Dow Corning® 700P Additive improves pigment dispersion, prevents flooding and floating, improves gloss, reduces haze, and resists yellowing at high temperatures in solventborne systems.

Formulators of white, pastel and gray solventborne paints and coatings now have a new cost- and performance-enhancing ally – Dow Corning® 700P Additive. This low-VOC, low-odor siloxane-based additive is a highly efficient pigment dispersant that enables formulators to achieve stable titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment dispersions with a reduced tendency toward flooding and floating, improving color consistency. When used at just 10-15% of the dosage required for ordinary organic dispersants, the new additive provides equal or better performance. It also has been shown to be effective with both higher and lower grades of TiO2.

Plus, Dow Corning 700P Additive has a higher heat resistance than organic dispersants. Consequently, formulations containing this dispersant show significantly reduced yellowing during heat-curing and when overbaked. "Highly effective at low use levels, Dow Corning 700P Additive offers coating formulators an efficient and cost-effective solution for improving pigment utilization", said Dow Corning Coatings Global Segment Leader Chris Wall. "It can reduce the millbase viscosity and improve the gloss and haze of solventborne paints and coatings based on TiO2 pigments, even after storage. And it makes it easier to achieve an exact color match when tinting these paints and coatings." Targeted markets and applications for Dow Corning 700P Additive include solvent-based wood coatings, protective coatings, industrial coatings, automotive OEM and refinish paints, printing inks, and pigment pastes. "The introduction of Dow Corning 700P Additive underscores Dow Corning's commitment to provide innovative, multifunctional additive solutions for our customers, who look to us for improved performance at a good cost-in-use," Wall said. Dow Corning offers silicon-based additives for solventborne, waterborne, solventless and radiation cure systems. Offering multiple benefits, these additives are compatible with a wide array of binder systems and diluents, and they are effective at low concentrations.
