DSM Introduces a New Primer Resin for Long-Term Adhesion without the Need for Sanding

Date: 22/04/2020

Royal DSM announced the launch of a new, universal primer resin, NeoCryl(r) HP-1000, that enables long-term adhesion and functional performance for trim and lacquer paints and eliminates the requirement for sanding.

To meet the building and construction industry need for long-lasting priming solutions that offer a functional performance on all substrates, including those that might cause adhesion problems such as galvanized steel, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), cold-rolled steel and polypropylene (PP), DSM has developed NeoCryl® HP-1000, a primer resin which enables superior adhesion on almost all common substrated, eliminating the need for sanding, shortening drying times and ensuring smooth flow and leveling.

The removal of the sanding step enables time and cost savings, and also reduces operators' exposure to fine dust particles, making for a healthier work environment.

NeoCryl® HP-1000 is compliant with Eco-Label, Nordic Swan, Der Blaue Engel and AgBB certification, and can be developed at low volatile organic compound level.

Gerjan van Laar, Segment Marketing Manager EMEA, DSM Resins & Functional Materials said: "Our new NeoCryl® HP-1000 resin fits well with our organization's purpose-led, performance-driven strategy in that it is a sustainable solution that outperforms conventional market alternatives, enabling paint systems that work better for longer. This resin represents a real step up for primers in the trim and lacquer segment, and will deliver benefits to paint applicators and end-users alike. More than ever, together with our partners around the world, we are painting a brighter future for decorative coatings!"
