HMG Donates Hand Sanitizers for Manchester and the United Kingdom

Date: 11/05/2020

HMG is working closely with partners to supply First Thing Sanitise for front-line workers, care providers and charities in Manchester and across the UK.

HMG Paints Ltd , the UK's largest independent coatings manufacturer, has decided to make available its manufacturing skills and existing alcohol stocks to produce hand sanitisers to help during the Coronavirus emergency those who work in environments with the most vulnerable people such as care homes, homeless people, charities, etc. HMG's disinfectants are produced on the basis of formulations recommended by the World Health Organization.

The formulation of HMG, made up of over 70% alcohol, is called First Thing Sanitiser, which derives from internal communication messages urging staff to make washing their hands the first thing on their mind whether in work or at home.

"Our team of chemists have worked extremely hard on the formulation and it has been a true team effort to make the hand sanitiser available. By utilising our existing alcohol stocks, we believe that we can help the HMG Family, our customers and those who need it the most during the current shortages", said John Falder, Managing Director. The first batch of First Thing Sanitiser was donated to Greater Manchester Police, along with local care homes and frontline workers.

In addition, the paints produced by HMG Paints are also being utilised during the current crisis with their Commercial, industrial and decorative coatings being used on everything from hospital beds, workbenches, communication equipment, the Nightingale temporary Hospitals and buildings to the trucks and commercial vehicles keeping goods moving across the country.
