A newly launched colour in the Alesta Anodic Collection – Anodic Gold – has brought a very special finish to an inspirational and stunning light fixture. Designed by Yves Pauwels at Belgian firm Falluce, the seven-meter long "Tetris Hanging" light fixture is constructed out of a very long aluminium tube, which has been cut, stretched and shaped by hand.

Pauwels says: "When we built smaller scale models of Tetris, we realised very quickly that to get the most impact from the full-sized light fixture it would be ideal for it to be finished in gold. We initially investigated traditional anodisation, but thanks to Axalta and the Alesta Anodic Collection, we knew that a powder coating was the way to go".

Frank De Cock, Axalta's Sales Director for Powder Coatings in Europe, Middle East & Africa, says: "The fantastic durability of all the colours in the Alesta Anodic Collection provides outstanding scratch resistance. Our Alesta powder coatings are very versatile and strongly led by research and development. In fact, our Anodic Collection does what was once thought impossible: Replicate anodic finishes, but with all the benefits of a powder coating, and in a comprehensive range of colours. And for Tetris Hanging and the team at Falluce, the new Anodic Gold delivered not only the right colour together with durability, but also the precise overall impact required for such an unusual design".

Architectural polyester quality and Qualicoat and GSB approved, the Anodic Collection has a finished appearance very similar to chemical anodisation. Its excellent flow and low-gloss finish make the Collection suitable for application on a wide variety of aluminium and steel substrates.

De Cock says: "The Anodic Collection has a wealth of benefits, including being able to cover surface imperfections and defects and incredibly high durability outside – up to 15 years. Its application is very fast compared with the traditional anodising process. These, coupled with exceedingly strong colour uniformity between batches, make it a clear choice for specifiers and designers".

The Anodic Collection now has eight colour options: Gold, Black, Bronze, Brown Champagne, Malachite, Natura and Sapphire.
