AkzoNobel's commitment to employee well-being, engagement and development has led the paint and coatings manufacturer to receive certification from the Top Employers Institute in 5 major markets: UK, China, Brazil, USA and the Netherlands.

Top Employers Institute, the global certification company that recognizes excellence in the conditions that employers create for their employees and human resource best practices, recognized AkzoNobel as a Top Employer for the second year in a row for the Netherlands and the United States, fifth for Brazil, eighth for China, and ninth for the United Kingdom.

Being able to maintain all five Top Employer titles in five different important markets this year particularly demonstrates AkzoNobel's strong commitment to investing in people and people-driven initiatives. "Focusing on employee well-being, engagement and development has helped ensure our continued success through all the unprecedented challenges in 2020. It's all about making sure our employees feel included and listened to, while also enabling them to bring their best selves to work every day. We're growing together and building our capabilities so we're ready for the future", says Joëlle Boxus, AkzoNobel's Chief Human Resources Officer.

Despite the global uncertainty due to the pandemic, AkzoNobel has activated numerous key employee support initiatives such as the Mind Matters health and well-being program that helped employees cope with the "new normal" created by the Coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the paint manufacturer has made significant progress on diversity and inclusion commitments through training, virtual broadcasts and the growth of employee networks.

Also, employees remained heavily engaged: surveys reveal a significant improvement in organizational health, with 87% of employees indicating that they really care about the company and 86% willing to put more effort than expected to help AkzoNobel succeed. The belief that employees are the most important resource for building a sustainable future is fundamental for AkzoNobel "People. Planet. Paint." approach and the feedback provided by Top Employer Institute help the company continue to improve its position as a leading employer year after year.
