BASF Expanded its Indian Automotive Coatings Application Center

The investment will allow BASF to develop innovative solutions and better serve local customers.

BASF has recently announced that it has expanded its Automotive Coatings Application Center in Mangalore (India), in order to increase the efficient customer service capability and develop innovative solutions that will allow the company to gain strategic advantages.

The expanded research and development facility, which is part of the Coatings Technology Center, will cover an area of 400 m2 and will provide advanced machine capability and better customer line simulation conditions. As a matter of fact, it will include high precision climate-controlled spray booth and electrostatic rotary bell applicators, as well as advanced quick connection system for electrostatic applications.

“The expansion of the application center is an important addition to serve the Indian market with high-quality coatings solutions. It symbolizes our strong commitment to supporting the automotive industry’s long-term growth in India,” has declared Narayan Krishnamohan, the managing director of BASF India Ltd.

“This investment is a significant milestone in our effort to further strengthen our R&D footprint in Asia Pacific, as well as improve our proximity to customers in one of the fastest growing regions for our automotive coating solutions. With the expanded automotive coatings application center, we aim to not only continue our investment in OEM coatings in India, but to also support long-term growth in the automotive market in the region going forward,” has added Patrick Zhao, the senior vice-president of BASF Coatings Solutions Asia Pacific.

The facility will collaborate with the other Automotive Coatings Application Centers in the Asia-Pacific region.
