Biobased Coatings Europe 2026: Industry Leaders to Convene in Düsseldorf to Drive Sustainable Innovation

Date: 21/04/2026

As the industry faces increasing pressure to reduce its environmental impact, the two-day event aims to address the most critical technical and commercial challenges currently shaping the coatings market.

The coatings industry is set to gather this summer for Biobased Coatings Europe 2026, a premier conference dedicated to accelerating the commercialisation and performance of sustainable, bio-based coatings. Scheduled for June 10th and 11th 2026, the event will serve as a central hub for formulators, material innovators, sustainability leaders, and regulators.

The conference agenda focuses on the practical realities of transitioning to sustainable production. Discussions will center on:

  • Economic Viability: Strategies for achieving cost parity with conventional coating solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigating the complexities of EU microplastics legislation and evolving biodegradability requirements.
  • Technical Performance: Balancing durability with the biodegradability of next-generation formulations.
  • Supply Chain Resilience: Methods for diversifying bio-based feedstocks.
  • Decarbonization: Reducing the carbon footprint through innovative raw materials and life-cycle assessments.
  • Ingredient Safety: Managing risks and exploring alternatives to titanium dioxide.

The event will open with a keynote address from Dorothee Arns, Director General of FECC, who will offer strategic insights into the regulatory landscape influencing the chemical and coatings sectors. Attendees will also benefit from technical case studies and practical insights provided by industry leaders, including representatives from Arkema, Covestro, Sherwin-Williams, Elementis, Verbio, Stahl, Nestlé, and Beckers Group.
