Lactic acid-based solutions reduce VOC emissions without compromising performance in industrial paints and coatings.

The industrial coatings sector is accelerating its transition towards more sustainable formulations in response to increasingly strict environmental regulations on volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In this context, biosolvents developed by GALACTIC are emerging as an effective alternative to petroleum-derived solvents.

Conventional solvents used in industrial paints significantly contribute to atmospheric emissions and pose flammability and toxicity risks in manufacturing environments. Switching to biodegradable, lactic acid-based coalescents enables manufacturers to reduce environmental impact while maintaining technical performance.

  • Galaster BL 97 (butyl lactate) - With a flash point of 97°C and a boiling point of 187°C, it provides excellent wetting properties and enhances coating hardness compared to traditional co-solvents.
  • Galaster EL 98 (ethyl lactate) - With a flash point of 56°C and a boiling point of 154°C, it offers strong versatility and is approved by Ecocert under ECOCERT standards.

In industrial coating applications, these biosolvents help reduce VOC emissions without compromising coating durability, finish quality or process efficiency.
