This innovation from Evonik reinforces its commitment to supporting the digital printing industry with cutting-edge solutions that improve print clarity, substrate compatibility, and overall coating performance.
Evonik Coating Additives has announced the launch of a new portfolio of AERODISP® particle dispersions, aimed at significantly improving the performance of waterborne inkjet ink receptive coatings. Designed to deliver superior dot sharpness and high resolution, the new dispersions support the shift from analogue to digital printing by enhancing print quality and ink fixation.
The series comprises four advanced dispersions based on either silicon dioxide (SiO₂) or aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) particles. These products are engineered to optimise the spreading and fixation of ink droplets on substrates, crucial for achieving high-quality digital print results, especially with water-based inkjet inks.
Evonik’s new AERODISP® dispersions are easy to incorporate into formulations through simple stirring and are compatible with a wide range of binders. The product range includes both anionic and cationic variants, enabling tailored solutions for diverse printing applications and improved compatibility with various inkjet primer systems.
The anionic dispersions are ideally suited to applications such as food packaging and decorative printing, as they work well with non-ionic and anionic binder systems. Meanwhile, the cationic grades are recommended for textile printing and other specialised uses, thanks to their compatibility with non-ionic and cationic binders.
New AERODISP® product range:
- AERODISP® WR 8520 – anionic, SiO₂-based
- AERODISP® W 7520 WF – anionic, SiO₂-based, with excellent food contact compliance
- AERODISP® WK 7330 – cationic, SiO₂-based
- AERODISP® WK 8340 – cationic, Al₂O₃-based
“We offer a comprehensive range of wetting agents for waterborne inkjet inks. Working with our customers, we have seen how important the substrate is. Ink receptive coatings, or inkjet primers, can ensure the highest resolution when formulated with our new AERODISP® dispersions,” has stated Susanne Struck, Global Head of Market Segment Inks at Evonik Coating Additives.
