WorldSkills Shanghai 2026: FANUC Empowers the Next Generation of Robotics Talent

Date: 10/09/2026

From September 22nd to 27th 2026, over 1,400 young people from more than 70 countries and regions will gather in Shanghai (China), to participate in the 48th WorldSkills Competition. Across 64 skill categories, they will demonstrate the technical knowledge, precision, and creativity required by today's skilled professions.

WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 and FANUC are committed to the next generation of robotics talent, with twenty teams will compete for the gold medal in the Robot Systems Integration event.

For the manufacturing and engineering community, the Robot Systems Integration competition will be a highlight. Held from September 23 to 26 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, the event will challenge 20 international teams to complete an industry-oriented robotic integration task developed by FANUC, a Global Industry Partner of WorldSkills International and a Gold Partner of WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.

Spain will be represented by Adrià Hernàndez Ferragud and Àlvaro Martínez López, students from IES Bernat Guinovart representing the Valencian Community, who won the national SpainSkills competition held in February 2026.

As automation continues to transform sectors ranging from manufacturing and food production to the pharmaceutical industry and skilled trades, the role of robot systems integrators is becoming increasingly important. These specialists design, program, and commission robotic solutions that help companies improve productivity, optimise resource use, and maintain competitive production environments.

FANUC supports the Robot Systems Integration competition by providing technology, expertise, and training to participants at local, national, and international levels. Through this commitment, the company aims to provide young people with hands-on experience in advanced automation technologies and help them prepare for careers in a rapidly evolving industrial landscape.

Robot Systems Integration is a unique discipline that combines engineering, technology, and creativity. Participants must not only program and integrate robotic systems but also analyze complex requirements, develop innovative concepts, and solve automation challenges under demanding conditions.

Success requires a blend of technical excellence, critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, and adaptability. Through its strong partnership with WorldSkills, FANUC is proud to contribute to the development of these skills and inspire young professionals to build careers at the forefront of advanced manufacturing and industrial innovation.

From vocational training to specialised instruction, FANUC supports skills development at every stage of an industry career. Through its FANUC Academies, the company offers training for robot and machine operators, programmers, and automation specialists, helping manufacturers strengthen in-house expertise and boost production efficiency.
