Shaping The Future of Rail: Freilacke at InnoTrans 2026

Date: 02/09/2026

The demands placed on modern rail vehicles are growing – from durable surfaces and efficient manufacturing processes to high-quality standards. Innovations in this field only gain acceptance once their reliability and long-term practical suitability have been proven.

FreiLacke will be demonstrating how it meets these requirements with its system coatings at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, from 22nd to 25th September in Hall 8.1, Stand 310.

The focus is on coating solutions – liquid and powder coatings – for the interior and exterior of rail vehicles. The portfolio comprises coordinated systems for a range of applications – from durable exterior coatings to functional finishes for vehicle interiors. A particular challenge here is ensuring that the components exhibit a uniform colour appearance and surface texture, without any visible colour variations.

Depending on the component, FreiLacke uses either liquid or powder coatings. FreiLacke supports its customers from the selection of suitable coating systems, through technical advice, to the implementation of individual requirements. This customer support covers the entire process chain – from the train manufacturer and its suppliers right through to the train operator.

Graffiti continues to pose a major challenge for rail vehicles in Germany. To support operators in combating vandalism, FreiLacke has developed an innovative coating system. This combines high resistance to mechanical and chemical stresses with an effective anti-graffiti function. Graffiti can be removed repeatedly without leaving any residue and without causing discolouration or damage to the coating.

In addition to providing reliable protection against graffiti, the coating impresses with its resistance to aggressive cleaning agents. It is used, amongst other things, on handrails, ceiling panels and the inside of doors on rail vehicles.

“For us, InnoTrans is much more than just a product exhibition. It is a platform for face-to-face dialogue with our customers and partners. Together, we want to talk about current challenges and discuss solutions that are tailored to specific applications,” states Hilmar Weisse, International Business Development from the business unit vehicles.
