Artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, and robotics will feature at the forefront of InnoTrans 2026, as the world’s leading transport technology trade fair prepares to showcase the future of public transit this autumn.
Taking place from 22nd to 25th September at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, the 15th edition of InnoTrans will highlight how digital technology and physical infrastructure are increasingly converging. The Public Transport segment will host 414 exhibitors spanning 18,465 square metres, with international participants accounting for 62% of the lineup, including firms from Hong Kong, Lithuania, and South Africa.
This year’s edition places a heightened emphasis on digital solutions through its expanding focus areas: the AI Mobility Lab and Mobility+.
“Public transportation is in the midst of a technological transformation. Artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, and digital services are opening up entirely new possibilities for making mobility more efficient, flexible, and customer-friendly,” states Kerstin Schulz, Director of InnoTrans.
Major industry participants are scheduled to demonstrate market-ready systems. INIT Innovation in Traffic Systems SE will present an AI-powered operating system for public transport networks, whilst IVU Traffic Technologies AG will show applications designed for AI-optimised traffic planning. Ticketing operator FAIRTIQ and systems provider Scheidt & Bachmann will also display connected digital transit solutions.
In the outdoor display area at Berlin’s Sommergarten, manufacturers including Škoda Transportation a.s. and operator DB Regio AG will demonstrate operational passenger vehicles.
The event's Mobility+ section will feature 25 companies, 14 exhibiting for the first time, focusing on flexible and on-demand mobility. Highlights include:
- MOIA: Displaying autonomous on-demand transit systems.
- RailEvo: Presenting concepts for autonomous on-demand rail taxis to enable 24-hour network coverage.
- GoodMaps:
Demonstrating AI-driven precision navigation designed to improve accessibility.
The section will also host the Mobility+ Corner, featuring a schedule of 21 industry presentations on multi-modal integration and digitalisation.
Meanwhile, the dedicated AI Mobility Lab has expanded to 47 exhibitors, 28 of whom are making their InnoTrans debut. Key names include SNCF Réseau, Boston Consulting Group, FORTINET, and IAV. Exhibitor Scout Robotics will showcase autonomous rail inspection tools, Semvox will present AI assistance systems, and OTIV will demonstrate automated train operation technologies.
