Surventis Publishes First Sustainability Report and Reaffirms 2030 Targets

Date: 15/10/2026

Surventis has published its first sustainability report. Covering the 2025 financial year, the report outlines the company’s achievements across its three strategic sustainability priorities: climate protection, resource efficiency, and safe and sustainable solutions, while reaffirming its ambitions and targets through 2030.

“For more than 130 years, our coatings and surface treatments have protected the products people rely on every day. That heritage comes with responsibility to our customers, our employees, and society. As an independent company, we can now act on that responsibility with sharper focus, greater accountability, and increased speed. For us, sustainability and business success go hand in hand,” has stated Jens Luehring, Chief Executive Officer of Surventis.

Measurable progress and clear targets

Since 2018, Surventis has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations and purchased energy (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 45%. The company’s target is a 50% reduction by 2030. More than 70% of the company’s global electricity demand is already sourced from renewable energy, with a target of more than 90% by 2030. The specific carbon footprint of purchased raw materials (Scope 3.1) has been reduced by 15%, with a target of 20% by 2030. Energy intensity has improved by 26%, moving toward a 30% reduction target.

A key focus area is supporting customers in achieving their own sustainability goals through innovative surface solutions and technologies. In 2025, 32% of sales within the assessed portfolio were generated with sustainable solutions. By 2030, Surventis aims to increase this share to more than 35%. These solutions include more than 200 mass balance products already available in the market. One of the company’s largest opportunities to create impact lies within customer processes. The thin-film primer StarBloc®, for example, reduces material consumption by approximately one kilogram per vehicle and has been applied on more than 1.1 million vehicles since 2021. Digital tools and life-cycle assessment methodologies help identify the greatest opportunities for reducing emissions and resource use and support informed decision-making across the value chain. Surventis is also strengthening sustainability performance throughout its supply chain. By 2030, more than 90% of high-risk suppliers are to be assessed and audited against ESG criteria.

Transparency from the outset

The sustainability report was prepared voluntarily in accordance with the VSME Standard, the voluntary sustainability reporting framework developed by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG). It is based on the company’s first double materiality assessment, which identified both the sustainability matters most relevant to the business and the areas where Surventis has its most significant environmental and societal impacts. The report covers the 2025 reporting year, during which Surventis was still part of BASF, and provides the foundation for future sustainability reporting.

“This report shows who we are and what we stand for. Sustainability is embedded in our business model and growth strategy. Together with our customers, we develop surface solutions that make a measurable difference environmentally and economically. Our sustainability roadmap 2030 provides a clear direction for delivering that impact,” has added Markus Piepenbrink, Director Global Sustainability at Surventis.
