With over 500 billion plastic bottles consumed annually, 80% of which end up in landfills or oceans, allnex is repurposing this waste into valuable materials for coatings.
allnex, a leading global manufacturer of industrial coating resins and additives, has announced the launch of an innovative series of solvent-borne alkyd and polyester rPET liquid resins across the Asia Pacific region.
This new range marks a significant step in the company’s mission to advance sustainability within the coatings industry. By transforming post-consumer plastic waste into high-performance resources, allnex is enabling customers to reduce their environmental impact and support a circular economy.
The rPET liquid resins incorporate 5-20% recycled post-consumer PET, offering a sustainable alternative without compromising on performance. Key features include:
- Carbon Reduction: reduces product carbon footprint by 3% to 10%.
- Waste Repurposing: each kilogram of resin uses the equivalent of up to 14 discarded PET bottles.
- Versatile Application: suitable automotive OEM, automotive Refinish, General Metal coatings, and finishes.
- Regulatory Compliance: designed to help customers meet increasing regulatory pressure through measurable carbon reductions.
The initial Asia Pacific launch features a portfolio of solvent-borne polyesters and alkyds, including the VIALKYD® and DUROFTAL® series. Early market response has been positive, with VIALKYD® AS 5430P/70X already demonstrating strong performance in Thailand and Malaysia.
“We are proud to be a pioneer in commercially launching liquid coating resins incorporating rPET. This is not just a technological innovation but a reflection of our shared responsibility to address environmental challenges,” has stated Taweesak Kaosol, allnex Marketing Director APAC.
