New accelerator enhances cure control, low-temperature performance and structural strength in industrial epoxy applications.

Pflaumer has announced the launch of TERAMINE® 654, a versatile co-hardener and accelerator developed to enhance performance and formulation control in ambient-cure epoxy systems.

TERAMINE® 654 is a catalysing additive designed to promote efficient reactions between epoxy resins and a broad range of hardener chemistries. The product enables faster cure times and improved structural properties across demanding industrial applications.

When combined with conventional hardeners – including polyamides, polyamidoamines, aliphatic amines and cycloaliphatic amines – TERAMINE® 654 acts as a highly effective catalyst. It accelerates curing in applications such as adhesives and impregnation. The product is particularly suited to environments where precise and predictable cure behaviour is required, even under fluctuating or low-temperature conditions that might otherwise compromise coating performance.

In addition to its function as a co-hardener, TERAMINE® 654 can be utilised to catalyse the homopolymerisation of epoxy resins, broadening its suitability for composite and specialist epoxy formulations where enhanced structural performance is critical.

“TERAMINE® 654 enables formulators to fine-tune cure speed while maintaining formulation flexibility. It provides consistent and reliable curing performance, along with greater processing latitude for epoxy systems required to perform across a wide range of conditions,” has stated Brian Taubler, Vice-President of Global Sales and Business Development at Pflaumer

Key features of TERAMINE® 654 include:

  • Highly efficient epoxy cure accelerator
  • Precise control over cure speed
  • Activation of reactions in cold or challenging environments
  • Homopolymerisation catalysis capability
  • Compliance with FDA Regulation 21 CFR 175.300 for direct food-contact applications
