The acquisition is a strategic move for BASF, aimed at reinforcing its industrial footprint at the Chalampé site in France, the company’s European hub for the production of polyamide 6.6 precursors.

BASF is set to acquire full control of Alsachimie, the Franco-German joint venture with DOMO Chemicals, following the signing of an agreement that gives the German chemical giant the right to purchase DOMO’s 49% stake.

“As a key supplier of polyamide 6.6 precursors, ensuring reliable supply in Europe is our top priority. Acquiring DOMO’s shares will allow us to further consolidate our leadership and long-term commitment to this value chain, while opening up new growth opportunities across sectors such as automotive and textiles,” has stated Stephan Kothrade, member of the Board of Executive Directors at BASF SE.

The planned transaction remains subject to consultations with Alsachimie’s relevant employee representative bodies, in accordance with applicable regulations. Pending these discussions, both parties anticipate closing the deal by mid-2025.

“This transaction is in line with our strategy to focus on delivering bespoke polyamide solutions across our core markets — automotive, consumer goods, industrial, and electrical & electronics industries,” has added Yves Bonte, CEO of DOMO Chemicals.
