The new pigment of Merck provides bluish shades with red styling, a new colour trend in the coatings industry.

The international science and technology company Merck has announced that it will present the new Colorstream® F20-52 SW Mineral Red pigment at the European Coatings Show, the trade fair dedicated to the global paints and coatings industry that will take place from 28th to 30th March 2023 in Nuremberg (Germany).

Red is an important colour gamut for automotive coatings with high pigment concentrations and brilliant styling. The new silica pigment expands the colour palette into a more blueish red range. It is suitable for exterior and interior coatings, also in combination with other colour and effect pigments, guarantees a long-lasting as well as intense red shade in a variety of application areas and can be used in both liquid systems and powder coatings.

“Our new bluish red Colorstream pigment radiates luxury and reflects the latest styling trends. A colour that makes the difference – an intense red with exceptional hiding power that maintains its red colour from all viewing angles. This allows us to offer our customers further differentiation possibilities when it comes to selecting colours for cars and other applications,” has stated Jeff White, the head of the Surface Solutions division of Merck.

The effect pigments underscore the emotional impact of colour and are an important design element when creating surfaces with special effects or qualities, so they are employed in several sectors such as automotive, packaging, high-tech and architecture. Apart from decorative effect pigments, however, Merck also offers pigments for functional applications, for instance heat-reflecting or counterfeit-proof pigments.

As a matter of fact, during the event the company will also highlight several other novel products and innovative solutions such as Xirallic® Cougar and Radiant Red, Meoxal® Victoria and Atacama Red, which demonstrate the tremendous colour diversity of coatings made possible by the use of pigments that change colour depending on the viewing angle.

Merck will be in hall 4A at the stand No. 121.
