SITA Celebrates the 15th Anniversary of its Fluorescence Measurement Technologies

Date: 22/08/2022

Since 2007, SITA has been developing fluorescence measuring devices for quality assurance in component cleaning.

SITA Messtechnik GmbH is celebrating its 15th anniversary in fluorescence measurement technology. Founded in 1996, the company has always operated in the development and production of measuring and quality control instruments for the pre-treatment sector. During its existence, SITA has solidified its position in the quality assurance for component cleaning and has sold over 1,600 fluorescence measuring devices in 64 countries worldwide.

A clean surface is the necessary prerequisite for high and stable quality in coatings, adhesive and welded joints. As residual dirt can cause cost-intensive reworking, product complaints and even order losses, more and more users choose to rely on quality control with the aid of fluorescence measuring devices.

The products developed by SITA measure the fluorescence that occurs after the absorption of short-wave light in the ultraviolet range and offer a precise measuring technique for the non-contact, non-destructive and layer-thickness-sensitive detection of numerous organic substances such as greases, oils, release agents or lubricants.

Creating quality through controlled parts cleanliness

The company developed the first fluorescence measuring device for detecting residual contamination on parts in 2007, allowing its customers to test the cleanliness of parts surfaces within a few seconds and in an objective and repeatable manner without the influence of ambient light.

Two years later, it introduced the measured variable fluorescence intensity in relation to specifically developed fluorescence standards, it enlarged significantly the measuring range, it defined fluorescence standards and added a device storage.

In 2010 it launched the SITA clean line CI for inline inspection of parts contamination in the manufacturing process based on real-time capable industrial PCs, that offered easy adaptation to customer-specific requirements. In addition, in 2015 the company developed the SITA FluoScan 3D, a highly automated production-accompanying inspection system for geometrically diverse, three-dimensional components based on an inline fluorescence sensor that is positioned quickly and precisely via a three-axis positioning unit.

Finally, in 2019, SITA realised a further extensive product update and included hardware modifications for a faster measurement and for a more comfortable operability as well as helpful accessories for numerous applications. Depending on the requirements, the company is now able to offer a product range that includes mobile handheld measuring devices, automated production solutions, configurable and specially developed software and comprehensive user support.
