As automotive companies increasingly focus on environmental impact, Cortec® 146 paper has become a vital part of the solution. It is a USDA Certified Biobased Product and can be fully recycled into new paper products after use.
Global corrosion solutions manufacturer Cortec® Corporation is encouraging manufacturers and shop workers to return to simplified, effective metal protection with its CorShield® VpCI®-146 Paper. This double-sided anticorrosion solution, trusted across multiple industries for decades, is designed to support modern sustainability and automation goals.
Unlike traditional greasy rust preventatives, CorShield® VpCI®-146 Paper offers a clean and dry alternative. The paper emits Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors (VpCI) from both sides, creating a protective molecular layer on metal surfaces within a closed package.
Key benefits of this technology include:
- No Degreasing Required: when parts are removed from the packaging, the inhibitors simply float away, leaving the component ready for immediate use.
- Versatile Application: the paper can be used to wrap individual bearings and gears or as an interleaving layer for entire pallets of parts.
- Enhanced Defence: for sensitive components, it can be used inside VpCI®-126 Bags to provide extra cushioning and slight moisture absorption.
The material is also compatible with modern manufacturing workflows. One major manufacturer recently automated their process by using a robot to place pre-cut sheets of the paper between layers of brake rotors before final automated wrapping.
