The new packaging safeguards sensitive electronics from triboelectric charge generation, corrosion and physical damage.

Cortec Corporation has launched EcoSonic® ESD Self-Seal Bubble Bags, a new packaging solution to protect electronics and electric vehicle components during shipment and storage.

The EcoSonic ESD Self-Seal Bubble Bags are powered by Nano VpCI®, combining Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors with self-seal cushioning bubble bags and ESD protection to safeguard sensitive electronics from triboelectric charge generation, corrosion and physical damage.

Electronics are highly complex and sensitive components that may contain multiple metal types in one unit. So, as they are shipped cross-country and exported around the world encountering extreme environments and fluctuating temperatures and humidity that could easily cause condensation and corrosion, they need to be protected. The combination of corrosion protection with ESD packaging and bubble wrap then tackles three threats at once, providing greater convenience and efficiency.

The new product developed by Cortec provides corrosion protection to metal components by saturating the enclosed airspace with Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors, thus forming a protective molecular layer without leaving any film or residue.

As a matter of fact, EcoSonic ESD Self-Seal Bubble Bags can protect carbon steel, aluminium, copper, silver, brass and stainless steel, as well as plastics, optics, elastomers and other non-metallics objects that compose hard drives, processors, video graphics cards/boards, memory sticks/modules and other circuit boards. In addition, Nano VpCI inhibitors do not interfere with subsequent processing (i.e., welding, cleaning, soldering) and the bag can be recycled at facilities that accept #4 recyclable products.
