The single-coat application of Interpon D coatings allows Meshtec to accelerate production and meet growing demand without compromising quality.

Protecting homes from unwanted intrusion requires products as resilient as the threats they guard against. Meshtec relies on Interpon D powder coatings from AkzoNobel to deliver durable, long-lasting finishes on its physical security screens. As an Interpon Approved Applicator, Meshtec can provide customers with virtually lifetime assurance of quality and performance.

Originally launched in Australia more than 20 years ago, Meshtec has grown into a world-class designer and manufacturer of security screen systems for doors and windows, barrier screens, and balustrade fencing systems. The Thai company exports to 25 countries worldwide, distinguishing itself through design-led quality and performance, backed by the consistent finish of Interpon coatings.

Meshtec initially used Interpon D1036 standard durable powder coatings on its high-tensile stainless steel woven mesh screens, offering a warranty of up to 15 years. More recently, the company has adopted Interpon D2525 superdurable powder coatings, which guarantee the integrity of the coated surface for up to 25 years, and often longer.

Production volumes at Meshtec’s Chiang Mai facility are significant. The company manufactures over one million square metres of stainless-steel mesh annually, along with a similar volume of perforated aluminium sheets and more than 200,000 completed doors and windows. Further automation and the use of robots are expected to raise production closer to 500,000 units in the coming years.

Every Meshtec product is finished with Interpon coatings on one of two powder coating lines. Mesh and panels are typically coated black, while finished doors and windows are available in a range of colours to meet customer requirements.

“First, we wanted to accelerate the production process to match an increase in demand. Second, we needed to better control our costs. And third, we wanted a product that supported our commitment to sustainability by reducing waste and using smaller quantities of powder. Interpon is giving Meshtec all these benefits and more,” he continues. “With the single coat application of the Interpon D powder coating we have been able to significantly increase our line efficiency while at the same time enhancing our sustainability, doing more with less. Sustainability is very important to us as a business, and we are constantly looking at how even small improvements in our operations can have a larger positive impact on our environment and our society,” has stated Managing Director Nopporn Khunyotying.

Sustainability is also driving future innovation at AkzoNobel, both in its products and services. Nopporn welcomes the support provided by the Interpon Technical Services team. He has begun using a chrome-free pretreatment and is exploring the potential of Interpon’s latest low-energy (Low-E) powder coatings.

Being an Interpon Approved Applicator offers Meshtec early insight into new products and innovations, along with additional technical training and support. The business is regularly audited against AkzoNobel’s stringent quality standards, ensuring it continues to meet global architectural requirements and supports new business growth. This allows Meshtec to offer customers enhanced warranties and assured, world-class quality.

“The collaboration of the AkzoNobel team, the quality of the Interpon powder coatings, and the consistency of their performance, are what enable us to compete on a global scale, and why our customers trust us to deliver,” has concluded Managing Director Nopporn Khunyotying.
