The 2024 report highlights Nouryon’s commitment to meeting growing customer demands for sustainable innovation while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its operations.
Nouryon has published its sixth annual Sustainability Report, outlining its continued advancements in environmental performance and sustainable solutions. The report demonstrates the company’s dedication to transparent data disclosure, aligning with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Key Highlights from the 2024 Report Include:
- Expansion of Sustainable Product Portfolio and Certifications:
Nearly 35% of Nouryon’s full-year revenue in 2024 stemmed from its Eco-Premium Solutions portfolio, underscoring its dedication to sustainability-driven innovation. Additionally, 74% of the company's research and development pipeline focused on products with sustainability benefits. Notable product launches include Expancel® BIO microspheres, Berol® Nexus surfactant, and Structure® Silk starch. Nouryon also achieved several ISCC PLUS certifications, reinforcing its sustainability credentials. - Exemplary Safety Performance:
Nouryon maintained top-quartile performance in personnel safety, according to benchmarks from the American Chemistry Council (ACC), achieving a 78% reduction in its process safety incident rate compared to its 2019 baseline. - Significant Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction:
The company reported a 19% decrease in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions from 2019 levels, reflecting ongoing improvements in environmental performance. - Greater Use of Renewable Energy:
As of 2024, 56% of Nouryon’s total electricity consumption is sourced from renewable or low-carbon energy. Including steam, renewable sources accounted for 35% of total energy use, up from 30% in 2019. Furthermore, 28 manufacturing sites now operate using 100% renewable and/or low-carbon electricity. - Enhanced Supplier Sustainability Oversight:
The share of supplier spend assessed through EcoVadis increased to 74%, up from 66% the previous year, illustrating Nouryon’s strengthened supply chain sustainability efforts. - Recognition for Sustainability Performance:
Nouryon was awarded a Gold rating from EcoVadis, placing it in the top 3% of all companies evaluated and in the top 2% of its industry. The company also earned a “B” score from CDP for climate performance, placing it in the Management category, which recognises companies for effective environmental management practices.
