AkzoNobel’s Yacht Coatings Business Teams Up with The Water Revolution Foundation

Date: 14/06/2021

In order to create a more sustainable yacht industry, AkzoNobel will be the new partner of the Water Revolution Foundation.

Aiming to build a more sustainable yacht industry and help protect the oceans, the Yacht Coatings business of AkzoNobel has signed a new partnership with the Water Revolution Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2018, which aims to preserve the oceans by reducing the environmental impact of the yacht industry.

AkzoNobel has made, over many decades, a long-term commitment to positively driving a change within the industry and now it will share its knowledge and insights with the Foundation.

“We have a natural connection with the Water Revolution Foundation and share the same goals, in that we both want to create a more eco-conscious and more sustainable yacht industry. We pride ourselves on our sustainable products and, by teaming up with the Foundation, we are committed to conserving our oceans. We look forward to working closely together and are excited about what we can both achieve,” stated Jean-Michel Gauthier, Director of AkzoNobel’s Marine and Protective Coatings business, that includes the Yacht Coatings activities.

“AkzoNobel has shown its leadership in sustainability for many years and we are united in our passion and ambitions to build a more environmentally-friendly sector. We’re pleased to welcome them on board as an official partner and we very much look forward to working together to drive and accelerate change in the superyacht industry,” added Robert van Tol, Executive Director at the Water Revolution Foundation.

More specifically, AkzoNobel will share its expertise regarding primers, fillers, topcoats and underwater hull coatings – which are already available on the market, supplied through its International and Awlgrip ranges. The Water Revolution Foundation will also benefit from AkzoNobel’s technological experience in the automotive, aerospace and power fields.
