Christoph Schlünken will hand over his role and responsibilities to BYK’s president Tammo Boinowitz.
The specialty chemicals company The ALTANA Group
has recently announced that, from 1st January 2023, the composition of its management board will be changed. Since Dr. Christoph Schlünken will retire, his role and responsibilities will be passed on to Dr. Tammo Boinowitz
The 60-years old Schlünken had held several sales and marketing positions at Bakelite AG before joining the ALTANA Group in 2001, serving as managing director of ELANTAS GmbH. Then, the PhD chemist became the president of the ECKART division in 2005, the head of BYK in 2012 and a member of the management board of ALTANA in 2014.
“For more than 20 years, Christoph Schlünken has very successfully helped to shape ALTANA’s growth and corporate culture. For this achievement, he deserves our highest recognition and our warmest thanks. We wish him in advance all the best for his well-deserved retirement,” has stated Martin Babilas, the chairman of the management board of ALTANA AG.
Boinowitz received a doctorate in chemistry and has more than twenty-five years of experience within the specialty chemicals sector, especially on customers, technology, and innovation. He has held various management positions at Evonik and, at the beginning of 2021, he joined the ALTANA Group as president of the BYK division. The new member of the board, aged 55, will be responsible for the BYK and ECKART divisions and will also focus on account and innovation management and procurement as well as on environment, health and safety.

So, from 1st January 2023, the management board of ALTANA AG will be composed by Babilas, Boinowitz and Stefan Genten. Boinowitz will also continue to hold his position of BYK’s president in parallel.
