Brenntag SE has announced that Jens Birgersson, CEO of the group, will take direct leadership of the Brenntag Essentials division from 8th September 2025, following the departure of Ewout van Jarwaarde. Van Jarwaarde has stepped down from both the Board of Management and his role as CEO of Brenntag Essentials to pursue new personal and professional opportunities.
Since assuming the group CEO role on 1st September 2025, Birgersson has urged teams to prioritise operational growth and efficiency, while familiarising himself with the company. He affirmed Brenntag’s continued commitment to developing both its Specialties and Essentials divisions, with a strong focus on enhancing service offerings and market position in the paints and coatings sector.
“Ewout ensured consistent execution of the Group strategy and operational performance in a challenging market environment. We wish him all the best for his personal and professional future,” has stated Richard Ridinger, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Brenntag SE.
Under van Jarwaarde's leadership, Brenntag Essentials successfully advanced its Triple Strategy, including the implementation of Last Mile Service Operations. He also accelerated the M&A agenda and strengthened key strategic partnerships, significantly enhancing the division's market position to drive sustainable, profitable growth.
