Gardco has recently introduced the RTM Digital Micrometer, a handheld gauge designed to speed up and simplify surface‑profile checks performed with Testex™ replica tape.
Practical design features:

- A bright, colour screen with large numerals improves legibility in poor light, reducing operator error.
- Users can toggle instantly between microns and mils, and an “Average” mode walks them through the two‑reading method required by ISO 8503‑5, ASTM D4417 and related standards.
The micrometer stores up to 250 readings and allows effortless data export via USB — no software installation required. Once the user selects the replica tape grade, the device automatically applies the correct conversion factor and subtracts the 50 µm (2 mil) backing thickness, eliminating the need for manual calculations. Each unit comes with a Certificate of Calibration for traceability, as well as both a High-Accuracy Burnishing Tool and a traditional burnisher.
