The second edition of IMCD Building Tomorrow trends report provides new insights on the future of the coatings and construction industry.

The international manufacturer and distributor of speciality chemicals and ingredients IMCD has released Building Tomorrow, the second edition of its trends report on the global coatings and construction industry. It features primary data and updated trends from a comprehensive global survey across 35 countries, as well as interviews with technical and commercial experts.

The report published by the company covers four megatrends shaping the future of the coatings and construction market: Green & Circular, A Healthy Future, Smart Functionality and Time for Efficiency. The viewpoints of industry professionals offer a unique perspective on how each megatrend is evolving and how IMCD can offer solutions that directly respond to these challenges.

“In this second edition, we moved from a commentary to a report. From our global customer base, we collected valuable insights into what they need in the next two years to succeed. Our technical and commercial experts validated and added to these insights with ways to respond to the trends with the latest formulations and innovations,” has commented Carola Duncan, the global marketing director of the Coatings & Construction division of IMCD.

According to the survey, for the next two years sustainability will be the most impactful megatrend, while efficiency will be the most relevant factor, asserting the need to balance innovation, regulation and cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and performances. In addition, the report highlights the importance of clean label and safe use products, as well as emphasizing the growing demand for multi-functional products and spaces.

“Understanding the megatrends and their local dynamics in different markets segments help us develop innovations aligned with the expectations and needs of our customers. In our laboratories, we combine those needs and expectations with the commitment of creating solutions for a more sustainable future,” has also added Jerome Bollard, the technical director of the company.
