During the seventh edition of the Global Tank Storage Awards, Sherwin-Williams earned a Gold Emerging Technology Award thanks to its thermal Insulative coating technology Heat-Flex 7000, which can improve safety, efficiency and cost savings in industrial processes and storage facilities.

The international paints and coatings manufacturer Sherwin-Williams has earned a Gold Emerging Technology Award for the 2024 Global Tank Storage Awards thanks to its Heat-Flex 7000 thermal insulative coating.

“Receiving this honour is both a privilege and a validation of our product development and research teams’ relentless pursuit of solutions to combat CUI for a diverse range of industries. We are proud that Heat-Flex 7000 is being recognised as a breakthrough in insulative coatings by providing enhanced personnel safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness across a range of applications. Following our Heat-Flex CUI-Mitigation portfolio earning a 2023 Vaaler Award, now with Heat-Flex 7000 winning Gold for Emerging Technology at the Global Tank Storage Awards, the industry is poised to continue the fight against eliminating CUI,” has stated Neil Wilds, Global Product Director, CUI/Testing for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine.

Technically speaking, Heat-Flex 7000 consists of a single-coat insulative coating system that can mitigate several risks associated with high-temperature steel storage tanks - such as burns to personnel, vaporisation losses from solar heat gain and the formation of corrosion under insulation (CUI), which poses a threat of catastrophic leaks or explosions. Moreover, it is suitable for a wide range of indoor and outdoor environments across industries like oil and gas and chemical processing thanks to its reduced installation time and maintenance costs.
