The newly-developed system of Walther Trowal allows customers in the paint and coatings industry to manage large batches of components.

Walther Trowal will present at PaintExpo 2024 its new Rotamat R 100 system for coating elastomer sealing components with anti-friction and decorative lacquers. This unit can handle batches of parts three times larger than the batches processed in the larger previous model - therefore allowing customers to handle large batches of both flat and oversized sealing components. In addition, an important application is the coating of O-rings and flat gaskets, such as the sealing of individual cells in battery packs, fuel cells, engines and transmissions.

The new Rotamat R 100 has a capacity of 160 litres, respectively 100 kg. In a single batch it can handle approximately 300 sealing rings with a diameter of up to 350 mm or batches of up to 50,000 O-rings. Compared to the previous R 85 model, the new machine can handle batch sizes three times larger, with the same cycle times and a marginal increase in space and energy requirements.

“Until now our customers used the Rotamat systems mainly for coating of O-rings. But with increased sales of electrical vehicles the demand for big elastomer sealing components with a large surface area, used for battery cells, cooling systems for heat exchangers, will rapidly grow,” has stated Frank Siegel, sales manager coating technologies at Walther Trowal.

Lastly, the new Rotamat system is suitable for the decorative coating of plastic components, for thin-walled metal rings with a diameter of up to 300 mm and for coating the sealing components with different types of oil and wax as well as for high-grade paints.
