The redesigned workspace layout and optimised workflow organisation are expected to dramatically streamline production flows, positioning the Pamiers facility as a cornerstone of AkzoNobel’s European aerospace operations.
AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings has reached a major milestone in the €22 million expansion of its Pamiers production site in France, significantly boosting its European capacity and technical capabilities.
The investment is part of a long-term strategy to enhance operational excellence and support the growing aerospace coatings sector, whilst driving the site's environmental and sustainability objectives.
The multi-million-euro project introduces several critical upgrades to the facility:
- Expanded Storage: A new 2,000-square-metre warehouse has been constructed, introducing advanced temperature-controlled storage cells to optimise raw material and finished product preservation.
- Enhanced Safety: A new 638-square-metre waste management facility has been built, featuring next-generation automatic sprinkler systems with zoned detection technology.
- Modernised Quality Control:
The site has increased its Quality Control capacity by 166%. Upgrades include eight new laboratory benches with integrated extraction hoods, four new application cabins, and a dedicated, insulated cabin with secure airlock access for chromate products.
Manufacturing capabilities have been significantly modernised to improve workflow efficiency and operational flexibility. The site has been outfitted with new precision weighing systems, additional paint tanks, and new automatic beads mill specifically dedicated to developing next-generation, non-chromate coatings.
"The investment demonstrates our continued commitment to the aerospace industry with the capacity, quality and innovation our customers need. By modernising Pamiers, we are not only strengthening manufacturing capabilities, but also creating a more sustainable and future-ready site that will help accelerate the development of advanced aerospace coating solutions,” has noted Arnaud Charmetant, Site Manager at AkzoNobel.
