Weighing just 11 kg and offering a 692 mm reach, this ultra-lightweight robot can be carried single-handedly. Its design allows for effortless adjustment and seamless relocation into tight, confined workspaces. It automatically detects its installation angle and can be paired with a magnetic base, enabling mounting in any orientation without requiring screw fixings.
FANUC has officially introduced its new CRX-3iA collaborative robot, a compact, intuitive, and highly precise cobot engineered for quick and flexible automation across various industrial sectors.
Despite its compact footprint, the cobot boasts a 3 kg payload capacity. This allows it to hold a welding torch and a sensor simultaneously to handle automatic weld-point detection and path generation. While ideal for light applications such as assembly, welding, and shipbuilding, FANUC also anticipates significant adoption in intralogistics and mobile automation. The CRX-3iA is perfectly suited for mounting on Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to perform picking, placing, and line-feeding tasks. Furthermore, its scaled-down size makes it an excellent fit for educational and training environments where traditional, bulky industrial robots are impractical.
As the latest addition to the CRX series—which includes models reaching up to a 30 kg payload and a 1,756 mm reach—the CRX-3iA integrates fully into FANUC’s control and software ecosystem. It also features wrist-button technology, allowing operators to guide and teach positions directly from the robot arm without holding a Teach Pendant, a practical functionality that streamlines programming and minimises changeover times.
“Manufacturers need automation that adapts to their environment, and not the other way around. With the CRX-3iA, we have focused on portability, rapid deployment, and high repeatability. It allows customers to leverage the benefits of collaborative welding and handling wherever the work is located, without complex installations,” has stated Paul Ribus, Head of Sales Coordination at FANUC Europe.
