The iron oxide pigments manufactured by LANXESS could cost up to €400 for metric ton.

The specialty chemicals company LANXESS has recently announced that it will increase the price of its inorganic pigments worldwide. After having initially just adjusted the cost at the end of 2021, the company now has to further increase the prices due to some unprecedented challenges affecting production and logistics.

The cost per metric ton will rise by €400 for iron oxide pigments from the production site in Krefeld-Uerdingen (Germany) and €200 from the Porto Feliz site (Brazil). Moreover, LANXESS is also adjusting the quotations for chromium oxides.

The business had to adapt to the higher level of energy prices that are expected to remain high and volatile for the rest of the year, also as a result of the war in Ukraine. Additional burdening factors are the enormous shortages and costs of raw materials and freight capacities.
