The coatings manufacturer Lechler has announced it has signed an agreement with Team Polti Kometa. The collaboration will enable both companies to face the upcoming challenges and reach even higher goals.

“Together, united by a common thread called passion,” so begins the press release with which the coatings manufacturer Lechler announced it has signed an agreement with Team Polti Kometa.

Over the past years, Lechler has evolved from a simple coatings manufacturer to a company promoting the sustainable colour culture. Specifically, the Como-based company has started two projects:

  • The Color Design project, that combined both technological and humanistic aspects of the colour, with nature as inspiration to create a long-lasting beauty.
  • The ESS&RE project, which gave meaning, value and direction to the change of perspective towards environmental, social and economic sustainability.

"It is a difficult job with two peculiarities: first, at the centre is the human being, who as an individual, team, community and family must take responsibility. Second, the path undertaken never ends, but lives on constant study, effort and updating of one's knowledge," writes Lechler.

All this leads to a parallelism with sport, where physical performance and technology are always taken to extremes and where the quest for 'marginal gain' is exasperated: cycling. Athletic preparation, nutrition, aerodynamics, wattage and technical clothing to be applied on increasingly customised bicycles with often experimental components.

It was inevitable, due to similarity of intentions and geographical proximity, that Polti and Lechler would meet to build a piece of the future together through the Polti Kometa team. A future that has a very precise shape, that of a bicycle, the sustainable vehicle par excellence.

Lechler has specialised in high-performance and ultra-lightweight carbon coating cycles since the early 2000s, thanks to its collaboration with Formula 1 racing teams and with several bike brands around the world, including the Italian-Spanish brand Aurum which supplies the team with bicycles. The commitment of Lechler will go beyond sponsorship and will see the Como-based company involved in a project for 2024 that cannot yet be revealed now.

The President of Lechler Aram Manoukian, who also led Confindustria Como, commented this synergy that sees his company once again committed supporting sport: "What is an ENTERPRISE? The same question put to me or to Ivan Basso will elicit different answers. Common instead, is the driving force that pushes the realities we represent to do better and better to constantly challenge themselves, to reach one goal and immediately find another more ambitious one: the passion for what we do. Today we begin a journey together, hoping our company will contribute to the realisation of new enterprises signed by the riders of the team."

Ivan Basso, champion able to win two Giri d'Italia and co-founder of Polti Kometa, echoes him: "I am happy, very happy: Lechler is a company that immediately struck me for its history and for the innovative spirit it has. This is a partnership that will go beyond a simple sponsorship: behind this union there is a project, there is a study, there is sharing, there is passion. That is why I am confident of the success of this agreement and of our journey together.”

"As a sponsor of the Polti Kometa team since 2024, I am excited about the partnership with Lechler. From the very beginning, a solid sharing of values has bound us together and I am convinced the ethical consistency and shared intentions will result in a significant project, driven by a strong sense of responsibility," commented Francesca Polti, President and CEO of Polti.

Fran Contador, GM of Polti Kometa: "Lechler is more than a sponsor, but something that will take us in a solid and real way: the team, our bikes and Lechler will work together in an innovative project that shall involve everyone and will certainly take us very far. That is why I am particularly happy today.”
