Arkema achieves ISCC PLUS certification across more than 70% of global coating facilities

Arkema strengthens its sustainable coatings portfolio with expanded ISCC PLUS-certified production network.

Arkema has announced that more than 70% of its coating production facilities worldwide are now certified under the ISCC PLUS scheme, following the addition of ten coating solutions sites in 2025.

The global specialty materials leader said the newly certified facilities further reinforce its commitment to sustainable manufacturing. The certification covers sites dedicated to advanced liquid resins, waterborne resins, rheology and speciality additives, powder resins, UV/LED/EB technologies and acrylic monomers.

This milestone enables Arkema to offer an extensive portfolio of bio-attributed solutions delivering a product carbon footprint (PCF) reduction of at least 20% compared with fossil-based equivalents. The company said the achievement supports customers in developing more sustainable coatings and adhesives, alongside related applications that contribute to energy and infrastructure efficiency, e-mobility, emerging technologies, urbanisation and improved living comfort.

“Our approach to certification has been methodical and strategically aligned in those areas where it will have the greatest positive impact across the value chain. Today, we have achieved ISCC PLUS certification across our global network for a wide range of coating technologies – from monomers to advanced resins and speciality additives. This ensures that customers worldwide have access to bio-attributed grades that help them significantly reduce their product carbon footprint and accelerate their sustainability goal,” has stated Richard Jenkins, Senior Vice-President Coating Solutions and Global President Coating Resins at Arkema

In addition, Arkema Coating Solutions in 2025 launched a series of partnership and co-operative initiatives with suppliers, distributors, formulators and end-user organisations. The company said these collaborations are designed to support both its short- and long-term commitments to lowering the carbon footprint of coatings and related products globally.

“We believe the only way the industry can reach the goals we have set is by working together. Innovation at raw material level only succeeds if it aligns with efforts at the formulator – and even end-user – level. Arkema has been highly successful in building partnerships upstream and downstream with organisations that share this mindset and are committed to delivering the changes required,” has added Richard Jenkins.
