Interpon has revealed its 2022 Colour of the Year: BAKU Y2375I. It is a soft and shimmering grey, with hints of indigo blue and silver developed for the field of architecture and design.

AkzoNobel's colour research and development experts unveiled the 2022 Color of the Year: Baku Y2375I.

This shade has been defined as a colour to open up your creative horizons and create stunning designs that are on trend and in tune with current and future needs. Building on the light and airy shades of Bright Skies, which draws out themes such as expansion, open air and the great outdoors, Baku, which is part of the 2022-2025 Futura Collection, provides bold, neutral tones to bring the collection down to Earth.

At first glance, Baku is a soft, shimmering grey, but with a closer look you will see hints of indigo blue and silver. Look again and as the light moves on it, you will have a sense of a surface that is constantly changing, but somehow remains the same.

For 25 years, to decide the shades that will accompany us throughout the year, AkzoNobel's experts have worked with specialists in the world of powder coatings and with leading design professionals from around the world to capture the atmosphere of the moment and identify future trends. Research generates valuable information that is translated by paint and coatings experts.

“Helping customers bring their imagination to life is integral to our Interpon brand,” says Daniela Vlad, Business Director of AkzoNobel Powder Coatings. “Our products – enhanced by our colour trend research – are key to achieving architectural beauty, whether we are making a building stand out or blend seamlessly into its environment. We are excited to bring surfaces to life with our Interpon Futura Collection and its carefully selected Colour of the Year, Baku."

She adds that sustainability is integrated into everything created by Interpon: “We strive to lead our industry by pioneering a new world of possibilities by empowering people, reducing our impact on the planet and consistently innovating to deliver the most sustainable solutions for our customers. That’s why we call our approach to sustainable business People.Planet.Paint.”

The four inspiring palettes of the 2022 Colour of the Year

Interpon also presented the four inspirational palettes of the 2022 Colour of the Year - Workshop, Greenhouse, Studio and Salon. Within each palette are 12 colours, offering architects and designers not only a choice of colours to bring their creations to life, but also the opportunity to create the special effect they are looking for.

These palettes offer inspiration in the form of trendy shades, textures, metallics and special effects, including several ultra matte finishes, for both indoor and outdoor applications. With no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and significantly less waste, Interpon's super-durable powder coatings are a sustainable option. They require less maintenance and have a long resistance over time.
