At the American Coatings Show 2022, Clariant is showcasing new bio-based ingredients to support the creation of more sustainable innovations for industrial and consumer coatings.
At the American Coatings Show (ACS) 2022, Clariant is showcasing new bio-based multifunctional additives to enable the creation of more sustainable consumer and industrial coating products.

New bio-based solutions to reduce fossil carbon in paints, coatings and inks
Clariant has launched a new range of 100% bio-based, carbon-reducing VITA surfactants and polyglycols (PEGs) to help formulators and brands increase the green carbon content in their final products. Made from plants using bioethanol and being chemically equivalent to fossil versions, they offer the same performance and efficiency for water-based architectural coatings and inks, with an extremely lower carbon footprint.
Clariant also offers bio-based solutions for the wood and powder coatings segments. Clariant’s sustainable waxes Ceridust® 1041 VITA and Ceridust 1060 VITA sustainable waxes are based on renewable rice bran wax and have at least 98% renewable carbon index (RCI). They offer very effective matting and scratch resistance properties while providing a soft touch feel in wood coatings and brighter colours in powder coatings.
Exolit® AP halogen-free flame retardants for improved safety
Clariant also exhibited non-halogenated Exolit® AP flame retardants based on ammonium phosphate (APP) which provide fire protection for the construction, protective and marine industries. They have a longer shelf life and are more durable than intumescent coatings based on standard halogen solutions.
