The 85% bio-content of the VISIOMER® Terra methacrylates of Evonik has been independently confirmed by DIN CERTCO.

Evonik has recently announced that its VISIOMER® Terra methacrylate monomers have received the DIN CERTCO certification and will now include the label ‘Certified Biobased Product’. DIN CERTCO, part of the certification body of TÜV Rheinland Group, certifies products using the C14 radiocarbon method and ASTM D 6866:2021 protocol instead of merely calculating the bio-content.

The specialty methacrylates monomers of VISIOMER Terra contain up to 85% of bio-content, meet the highest performance requirements and have a low hazard potential, so they are among the most versatile and efficient building blocks of macromolecular chemistry, serving a broad range of such industrial applications as adhesives, paints and coatings.

“At Evonik, we strive to minimise the environmental footprint of our own product while maximising the handprint in the application. We are energised to develop products with superior sustainability benefits, so called next-generation solutions, in close collaboration with all partners along the value chain. For this purpose, we provide our customers with data from our Life Cycle Assessments,” has stated Alexander Kehl, the head of the Specialty Methacrylates product line at Evonik.

In addition to DIN CERTCO certification, the products from the VISIOMER Terra range are also supported by detailed Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) according to ISO 14040/14044, that are a critical tool assessing various environmental impacts throughout production and support the customers in benchmarking their own products.
