The upgraded plant of PPG will satisfy the growing customer needs for sustainable powder coatings.

On Wednesday 26th April 2023, PPG has inaugurated the expanded  production plant for manufacturing sustainable powder coatings of Brazil (Indiana, U.S.A). The site added 20,000 square feet (1,860 m2) to the already existing facility and the company plans to add twelve additional job positions.

The upgraded plant will meet the growing needs of customers operating in the appliance and general industrial manufacturing sectors, enhancing the ability of PPG to serve clients through greater product and process quality control while decreasing lead times for colour matching and production.

The $15-million investment include two new state-of-the-art lines for bonded metallic powder and automated packaging capabilities. PPG has commemorated the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company leaders, the 90 plant employees, government officials and community members as well.

“An expansion of this size takes a tremendous amount of time, effort and dedication from leaders, employees and the community. I would like to thank our incredible PPG team and the Brazil community for making this expansion possible,” has declared Kevin Braun, the global vice-president for PPG Industrial Coatings.

Since 2019, the company has been focusing on growing its powder coatings capacity through four strategic acquisitions and expanding production and service elements at seven powder plants across the globe. Additional capacity enhancements across the U.S.A. and Latin America are being planned for 2023.

“Powder is the fastest-growing coatings technology in the world, and we are committed to meeting this increasing demand through R&D, acquisitions and investments to enhance our capabilities and expand our global footprint. A key factor driving the rapid adoption of powder coatings is the growing interest in more sustainably advantaged solutions,” has added Marizeth Carvalho, the global business director for powder coating and the general manager of PPG Latin America South.
