São Paulo (Brazil), Barcelona (Spain), October 1, 2012 – Rhodia Coatis, a member of the Solvay group, showcased Augeo(tm) SL 191 the first grade in a new range of pioneering oxygenated solvents made from renewable resources at the EuroCoat 2012 trade show (October 2-4) in Barcelona, Spain.

Designed, developed and manufactured at present in Brazil, and available globally, Rhodia has displayed the Augeo™ range on booth F06. "Derived from glycerin through a sustainable process, Augeo™ SL 191 is an innovative slow-evaporating solvent with performance compared to glycol ethers and their acetates obtained from petrochemical feedstock which are more aggressive to both mankind and the environment," says Antonio Leite, Global Solvents Business Director, Rhodia Coatis. "Its stable operating functions and low environmental impact both during the manufacturing process and application makes our Augeo™ range a highly responsible and cost-competitive solution for paints and coatings end-use markets," he added. Key characteristics of Augeo™ SL 191 solvent include excellent solubility parameters and evaporation rate that provide optimum film formation at every stage of the coatings process. Compatible with the principal resins and polymers utilized in the paints and coatings industry, Augeo™ SL 191 contributes to ideal final part aesthetics and can be used for sequential or individual coats such as primer, base, clear and finishers. The versatility of its molecular structure and high solubility coupled with an almost imperceptible odour, when compared with alternate slow-evaporating solvents, makes Augeo™ SL 191 highly suitable for a variety of applications and industrial segments such as automotive painting and refinishes, coatings for can and coils, wood, leather, textile, paper and appliances.
