AkzoNobel Helps Bring Aerodelft’s New Aircraft Livery to Life

Using its specialised aerospace coatings, primers, and technical expertise, the AkzoNobel team guided students through the complete application process to help bring the team's refreshed identity to life while supporting the development of sustainable aviation technologies.

AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings partnered with AeroDelft on the application of a new livery for its student-built hydrogen aircraft, helping to bring to life a refreshed identity for the team as it continues its mission towards more sustainable flight.

Based in Delft (Netherlands), AeroDelft is a student-led aerospace initiative focused on demonstrating liquid hydrogen as a viable, sustainable aviation fuel. Through its Project Phoenix programme, the team is working to advance hydrogen-powered flight and contributing to the development of lower-emission aviation technologies.

Working closely with AeroDelft, AkzoNobel supported the project with a combination of products and technical expertise. For the livery application, Onno van Dongen, Stefan Post, Zoran Radosavljevic, Matthijs Van Groeningen and Matthew Gardzielewski, from the AkzoNobel team, supported the transformation of the aircraft from preparation through to the final finish, with the student team in attendance to see how it was done. The system included surface pretreatment, primer, and its basecoat/clearcoat system in white and four blue decorative colours.
