Developed to meet the increasing demand for high-performance protective coatings, TERACURE® MCR-2 from Pflaumer Brothers can deliver a robust combination of mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and formulation flexibility. It is particularly well suited for corrosion-resistant primers used on steel and other metal substrates where long-term protection and coating integrity are critical.
Pflaumer Brothers has recently launched TERACURE® MCR-2, an aromatic polyisocyanate pre-polymer based on diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), engineered for use in moisture-cured and two-component polyurethane systems
requiring exceptional corrosion resistance and long-term durability.
Corrosion continues to be one of the costliest challenges across industrial infrastructure, from structural steel to storage tanks and process equipment. In fact, TERACURE® MCR-2 has been designed to help formulators address these challenges at the coating level. When incorporated into zinc-rich primer systems, it enables galvanic protection of steel substrates while supporting strong adhesion and durable film formation. The result is a coating system that helps extend asset life, reduce maintenance frequency, and improve overall system reliability.
TERACURE® MCR-2 can be used as a single component in moisture-cured polyurethane formulations for application on masonry and other porous substrates, functioning effectively as both a primer and a topcoat. It is also designed for use as a hardener in two-component polyurethane coatings and composite systems, both clear and pigmented. These systems can be formulated to deliver excellent mechanical properties along with strong resistance to chemicals and environmental exposure.
TERACURE® MCR-2 gives formulators a reliable platform for building corrosion-resistant systems that perform in demanding environments without sacrificing processing flexibility or application efficiency.
- Designed for both 2K polyurethane systems and 1K moisture-cure polyurethanes.
- Outstanding chemical and corrosion resistance.
- Excellent mechanical properties and toughness.
- Compatible with a wide variety of isocyanate systems.
- Testing indicates zinc rich primers based on TERACURE® MCR-2 provides improved resistance to mud cracking.
Moreover, the product is compatible with urethane-grade ketones, aromatic solvents, and esters with very low moisture content, providing flexibility in formulation design. Its 100% solids content and controlled viscosity support the development of high-performance coatings with consistent application properties and film build.
