Chemetall acquires André Coatings and strengthens its market position in coil coatings

Effective from July 1, 2013, Chemetall GmbH, Frankfurt (Germany) has acquired the business activities of André Coatings GmbH, Willstätt (Germany).

With the acquisition, the surface treatment specialist strengthens its position in the market of functional coatings and adds innovative coating technologies to its portfolio. "There is a great interest from the market as well as our company to expand our core competence of surface treatment along the value chain", says Joris Merckx, President of Chemetall. "The acquisition is part of our strategic plan to enlarge, strengthen and grow our coil coating business globally and to offer innovative technology concepts to the market."

Pretreatment and organic coatings from a single source In the pretreatment of steel and aluminium coils, Chemetall ranks among the global leaders. The company offers a strong portfolio of cleaning and pretreatment technologies for coil finishing to all well-known steel and aluminium coil producers. In recent years, Chemetall has built up its own development capacities in the application and use of organic coatings and has successfully launched new technologies such as permanent coatings, corrosion protection primer and pretreatment primer to the market. The technology portfolio, long-standing market expertise and reputation of André Coatings complements and extends the product portfolio of Chemetall and is another successful step forward for building a strong foundation to Chemetall becoming a successful and integrated supplier for the coil coating industry.
