AkzoNobel’s aerospace coatings
are once again in the spotlight, featuring prominently on Transavia’s new retro-style Airbus A321neo, unveiled to celebrate the airline’s 60th
anniversary. The aircraft, part of the KLM Group, showcases a custom green livery inspired by Transavia’s original 1960s branding – a colour developed specifically by AkzoNobel in collaboration with the airline’s branding and marketing teams.
The bespoke shade has been expertly applied using AkzoNobel’s advanced chrome-free basecoat/clearcoat system: 2121 CF Primer, Aerobase, and Aviox Clearcoat. The result is a high-performance finish that captures vintage style while meeting the latest environmental and technical standards.
Marrying classic aesthetics with cutting-edge technology, the Airbus A321neo represents a new generation of aviation: quieter, more fuel-efficient, and environmentally responsible. AkzoNobel’s coating system complements these advancements, ensuring long-lasting protection and a standout visual identity.
The aircraft has successfully completed its first test flight with Airbus, and a second flight involving Transavia staff is planned ahead of the official handover. It is scheduled to arrive at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Friday 25 July, on a special ferry flight numbered HV1965 – a nod to the airline’s founding year.
