The coating products of Axalta have been awarded in the Sustainability, Smart Transportation and Material Science categories.

Axalta Coating Systems has recently announced that it has been honoured again with three prestigious Edison Awards™. The company, which in 2022 won two awards, will receive the prizes during the 36th annual Edison Awards ceremony taking place in Fort Myers (U.S.A.) from 19th to 21st April 2023 – where the innovative products will also be granted the Gold, Silver or Bronze status.

The company has won the category “Sustainability” with Abcite® 2060 Flame Spray Powder Coating, a sustainable single-layer coating that does not produce VOC emissions and allows to protect large metal structures from corrosion and easily repair damages on site without dismantling the structure.

Axalta has also been awarded for the sustainable AquaEC® Flex electrocoat technology for electric vehicles in the “Smart Transportation” category, as it cures over a broad range of temperatures while also reducing emissions, eliminating hazardous materials and enabling water recycling. It also provides an enhanced appearance, better edge-corrosion protection and increased flexibility. AquaEC Flex has also already won the BIG Innovation Award.

Finally, the Self Priming Kitchen Cabinet Coating has been selected in the “Material Science” category for having consolidated a conventional three coating finishing system into a single coating that provides outstanding performance and aesthetics, as well as moisture and chemical resistance without the need for a clear coat layer.

“We are thrilled to be an Edison Awards™ recipient for a fifth-consecutive year. Our recognition is testament to how Axalta continues to innovate smarter surface solutions for better living and a sustainable future. We are committed to providing the quality, innovative products, and services our customers have come to expect,” has proudly declared Robert Roop, the Chief Technology Officer of Axalta.

Named after the famous inventor Thomas Edison, the awards have recognised and honoured some of the most innovative new products, services and business leaders in the world since 1987.
