The partnership agreement will allow Barentz to market Hexigone's Intelli-ion AX1 corrosion inhibitors across the U.S. and Central America.

The corrosion inhibitor manufacturer Hexigone has recently announced that it has reached an exclusive distribution agreement with the specialty chemicals company Barentz, that will market the Intelli-ion AX1 corrosion inhibitors across the United States of America and the Central America region.

The high-performance and anti-corrosive additives for coatings of the company help to protect metal assets for longer, providing the industry with safe and cost-effective alternatives to heavy metals, phosphates and toxic chromates.

Intelli-ion AX1 protects in a 'smart' way: the intelligent micro-reservoirs enable the coatings to react faster to the environment, triggering the release of the inhibitor on demand. The technology has won the award Materials Performance's (MP) Corrosion Innovation of the Year in 2021.

“We are thrilled to have partnered with Barentz in the United States and Central America. New and existing customers will have a regional supply chain and an impressive technical sales team to work with. Corrosion is an annual $2.2T global issue, and Barentz ability to understand the challenges that customers face and passion in finding solutions for them, makes them a perfect partner,” has declared Patrick Dodds, the CEO of Hexigone.

“Currently, we are working with more than 3,000 coatings companies in the region and we are very excited to enter into this new distribution agreement with Hexigone Inhibitors, which has developed an innovative and differentiated technology that allows Barentz to offer a better solution to meet the challenges of our customers,” has added Thomas Papasso, Vice President Principal Management of Barentz.

In addition, Hexigone holds a new US patent. It was first granted the UK patent for Novel Corrosion Inhibitors in January 2022 and the same U.S. Patent No. 15/768, 152 in May.

“We are pleased that Hexigone is getting granted patents in recognition of the unique approach of our anticorrosion technology. Through co-blending or complete replacement of current phosphate-based inhibitors, coatings customers can reformulate for environmental, cost or sustainability benefits," has concluded Dodds.
