Dürr is building an eco-friendly paint shop for VW Autoeuropa in Portugal by mid-2027. The project cuts emissions and waste through three main upgrades. A high-efficiency atomizer reduces paint and chemical waste by switching between glossy and matte finishes on a single tool. An all-electric oven replaces traditional gas heating with a smart, on-demand drying system to slash carbon emissions. Finally, a single software platform unifies three separate painting buildings into one interface, replacing an outdated mix of legacy systems. The overhaul gives VW a cleaner, cheaper, and highly streamlined production line ahead of its upcoming new model launches.
