By joining the Programme, Jotun reinforces its commitment to promoting environmentally responsible solutions, accelerating the maritime sector’s transition towards cleaner vessel operations. Together with RightShip, Jotun aims to strengthen efforts in fostering a maritime ecosystem where operational excellence and ocean health go hand in hand.
The global paints and coatings supplier Jotun has been announced as the latest member of RightShip’s Zero Harm Innovation Partners Programme. This strategic partnership highlights the shared commitment of Jotun and RightShip to reducing environmental harm to air and water while enhancing vessel performance across the global fleet.
“Joining forces with RightShip’s Zero Harm Innovation Partners Programme is a significant milestone for Jotun. This collaboration underscores our joint commitment to advancing environmental stewardship and innovation in the maritime sector. As a leader in our field, we are proud to contribute our knowledge, technologies, and solutions to support the shipping industry—together with RightShip,” has stated Jessica Doyle, Sales Director Shipping at Jotun.
During the recent Nor-Shipping event in June, Jotun showcased HPS 2.0 (Hull Performance Solutions). In addition to technical services, hull condition management, and performance guarantees, HPS 2.0 features three coatings tailored to different operational profiles:
- SeaQuantum X200
and SeaQuantum XT are designed for vessels operating on predictable and high-fouling trade routes respectively, both utilising patented silyl methacrylate binder technology for long-term protection. SeaQuantum X200 recently demonstrated and validated a 1% average speed loss under ISO 19030, verified by DNV.
- SeaQuest Endura II
is the world’s first tin-free, biocidal fouling release coating designed for flexible use across unpredictable trades. It delivers high environmental performance without sacrificing efficiency.
“With HPS 2.0, Jotun offers a 'Tailored to Trade' hull performance solution that is technology-neutral—featuring both premium self-polishing and biocidal fouling release coating options. Our focus on zero-harm solutions is evident with the introduction of the first tin-free biocidal fouling release coating, reaffirming our position as the ‘Home of Hull Performance’ and significantly contributing to the goals of the Zero Harm Innovation Partners Programme,” has added Jessica Doyle.
In addition to HPS, Jotun enhances hull performance through its innovative Hull Skating Solutions (HSS), developed in partnership with Kongsberg Maritime. This technology merges robotics with advanced coatings to enable proactive, in-water hull cleaning, ensuring optimal hull cleanliness even under the most demanding conditions. At Nor-Shipping, Jotun’s SeaQuantum Skate antifouling coating received the world’s first Recognised Enhanced Antifouling Type Approval from Lloyd’s Register. The HullSkater also achieved type approval certification, making HSS the first fully integrated hull cleaning and coating system to be certified by a classification society.
“We are proud to welcome Jotun to the Zero Harm Innovation Partners Programme and look forward to the transformative impact their solutions will have in driving safer, more sustainable maritime operations. The momentum behind this programme reflects the industry’s collective drive for innovation and collaboration towards a zero-harm future,” has concluded Ajinkya Kadam, Head of Partnerships at RightShip.
