Operating in the aggressive environmental conditions typical of chemical-processing facilities, the company has partnered with global coatings manufacturer Jotun to implement ‘AssetKeeper’. The three-step service is designed to optimise maintenance planning, identify high-risk areas early, and establish a long-term strategy to prevent costly damage, unplanned downtime, or safety incidents.

Meghna, a subsidiary of the Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), has partnered with global coatings manufacturer Jotun to launch a proactive data-driven strategy to safeguard its steel infrastructure against severe industrial corrosion.

The scope of the initiative encompasses the comprehensive maintenance of Meghna’s entire factory infrastructure, including steel structures and pipe-holding systems. As the sole manufacturer of PVC and PET in Bangladesh, Meghna PVC Limited aims to set a new benchmark for responsible industrial risk management within the country’s manufacturing sector.

“AssetKeeper gave us a clear view of our asset condition and helped prioritise maintenance more effectively. Our focus is on protecting people, operations, and the integrity of the facility," has stated Mohammad Iqbal, Deputy General Manager at Meghna PVC Limited.

As part of the agreement, Meghna has committed to annual assessments to monitor coating performance over the long term. Industry experts note that such proactive measures are increasingly vital on a global scale. According to Jotun, corrosion costs the global economy over USD 2.5 trillion annually, with steel replacement projected to account for up to 9.1% of global CO₂ emissions by 2030.
