This milestone places the global coatings manufacturer among the top 5% of all companies assessed worldwide in the 12 months prior to the medal issue date.
Hempel A/S has achieved its highest-ever sustainability rating from EcoVadis, securing a gold-medal score of 80 points.
The outstanding result marks a dramatic 17-point surge from the company’s 2025 bronze-medal score of 63. This leap reflects Hempel’s accelerated progress in embedding rigorous sustainability practices into both its internal operations and its commercial customer solutions.
As one of the world’s most trusted independent sustainability benchmarks, the EcoVadis assessment evaluates corporate performance across four critical pillars: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
“This fantastic achievement is a milestone for Hempel and reflects the progress we are making as a company. Being awarded a gold medal by EcoVadis is a strong validation of our Sustainability Mission, which focuses on creating customer value through more efficient and responsible solutions—while also reducing our own environmental impact. It shows that our efforts have accelerated and matured, reflecting that sustainability is no longer just a supporting pillar, but a core driver of how we operate and create value,” has stated Sofia Mavropoulou, Vice President of Sustainability at Hempel A/S.
Over the past year, Hempel has significantly expanded the scope and precision of its documentation, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data transparency. This rigorous, organisation-wide approach to reporting has been cited as the primary catalyst behind the company's impressive 17-point improvement.
